Supply Chain Opportunities
The design, development, construction and operation of the Dublin Array Offshore Wind Farm Project has the potential to bring significant economic benefits to the region through the contracts that will be awarded. A large proportion of the supply chain opportunities will be during the construction period which is currently expected to begin in 2024, although the engagement with the Supply Chain will commence well in advance of that date.

The principal areas that contracts are awarded for during the construction of a wind farm are:

  • Turbine supply and Installation
  • Turbine foundation structures
  • Export cables supply and installation
  • Inter-array cables supply and installation
  • Onshore cables supply and installation
  • Civil and electrical engineering
  • Substation construction and installation

In awarding contracts, we will go through a competitive tender process for each part of the works. Regional Suppliers with the appropriate skills and experience will be well placed to tender for these contracts as RWE Renewables Ireland strives to use a local supply chain where possible, as is the case on other RWE offshore wind farms globally, as a part of our sustainability commitment to support the local community.

RWE has launched an innovative approach to supplier engagement, the Supplier Transparency & Engagement Programme (STEP). STEP aims to maximise awareness of the opportunities offered to businesses in Ireland by the growing offshore wind industry.

The STEP initiative includes holding supplier engagement days, launching an easy-to-use engagement platform with open search functionality that can be used by anyone including higher Tier suppliers (link below), as well as the opportunity to arrange calls on a quarterly basis with project team members to keep in touch.
