RWE: The local & global supply chains that will power Ireland’s offshore future

Ireland is rapidly emerging as one of Europe’s most exciting new markets for offshore wind. With ambitious national targets, 5GW by 2030 and up to 20 GW by 2040, the country is creating the conditions for sustained growth, long-term investment, and international collaboration.

As one of the world’s leading offshore wind developers, RWE is committed to playing a central role in that journey and to working with the global and local supply chain to make it happen as soon as possible.

Our growing footprint in Ireland: RWE has established its offshore wind headquarters in Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin, as a base for project development, engineering, and supply chain engagement. From here, we are advancing our Irish portfolio and building partnerships that connect global expertise with local opportunity.

This investment reflects our long-term commitment to Ireland’s offshore sector, not just to develop projects, but to help create a robust, competitive supply chain that can serve the wider region. both present and future.

Our Dublin Array Offshore Wind Farm, developed in partnership with local developers Saorgus Energy, is one of Ireland’s most advanced offshore projects. Located on the Kish and Bray Banks, around 10 km off the Dublin and Wicklow coast, the project will deliver up to 824MW of clean electricity, enough to power more than 750,000 homes.

Dublin Array holds a Maritime Area Consent, succeeded in Ireland’s first offshore auction (ORESS 1), and in 2025, submitted its planning application to An Bord Pleanála. Subject to approval, construction could begin later this decade.

New opportunities – Tonn Nua and beyond: Looking ahead, the Tonn Nua (ORESS 2.1) auction will open the next chapter of Ireland’s offshore build-out. It will kick start a new generation of projects and, crucially, new opportunities to all suppliers and service providers.

Ireland’s market delivery needs the full spectrum of local and global capability: turbine and foundation manufacturing, port and logistics solutions, cable installation, operations and maintenance, digital systems, and workforce development. RWE is actively engaging with suppliers worldwide who can bring innovation, reliability, and scale to this new and exciting market.

Let’s work together: RWE’s goal is to build enduring partnerships that combine global experience with local delivery. We invite all local and international suppliers, contractors, and service partners to connect with us as we help power Ireland’s offshore future. Together, we can deliver the next generation of offshore wind for Ireland, for Europe, and for a sustainable energy future.
